ABSENT:       [1]     Hunt

 

The meeting was called to order at 9:02 a.m.

 

The city secretary announced that a quorum of the city council was present.

 

The invocation was given by Christian Conatser, Pastor, Southwest Harvest Church.

 

Councilmember Kadane led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

The meeting agenda, which was posted in accordance with Chapter 551, "OPEN MEETINGS," of the Texas Government Code, was presented.

After all business properly brought before the city council had been considered, the city council adjourned at 2:43 p.m.

Councilmember Neumann moved to approve the minutes.

Item 2:      Consideration of appointments to boards and commissions and the evaluation and duties of board and commission members (List of nominees is available in the city secretary's Office)

 

The city secretary distributed a report showing all nominations and re-nominations received for city boards and commissions appointments for the 2009-2011 board term updated through MAY 5, 2010.

 

The city secretary noted the report indicated no nominees and re-nominees for full and individual council appointments were cleared for council action.

 

Councilmember Neumann moved to appoint Randall White, Chair, to the Reinvestment Zone Fifteen Board (Fort Worth Avenue) and Kathy Hewitt, Chair, to the Reinvestment Zone Sixteen Board (Davis Garden).

 

Motion seconded by Councilmember Hill and unanimously adopted.  (Hunt absent)

Item 3:       Consideration and appointment of members to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Board of Directors for Places 1 and 9 (shared member with Plano, Cockrell Hill and Glenn Heights) (Closed Session, if necessary, Personnel, Sec. 551.074, T.O.M.A) (List of nominees is available in the City Secretary's Office)

 

Councilmember Koop moved to appoint the following individuals to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Board of Directors, with the term to expire June 30, 2012:

 

  • Place 1, Robert W. Strauss
  • Place 9, Lafayette "Faye" Moses Wilkins

Item 5:       Authorize a public hearing to be held on May 26, 2010 to receive comments on the proposed use of a portion of Runyon Creek Greenbelt located at 1900 Camp Wisdom Road, totaling approximately 8,170 square feet of land for the installation of an 18-inch wastewater line to serve the University of North Texas System Dallas campus - Financing: This action has no cost consideration to the City

 

Councilmember Atkins moved to approve the item.

Lunch - Dallas Museum of Art Tour & Luncheon

 

The lunch and tour at the Dallas Museum of Arts was cancelled in order for the city council to attend the funeral of John Ware, former City Manager.

At 2:19 p.m., Mayor Leppert announced the closed session of the city council authorized by Chapter 551, "OPEN MEETING," of the (Texas Open Meetings Act) to discuss the following matters:
